(Test of English as a Foreign Language)

TOEFL

The TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test) measures the English proficiency of non-native speakers who wish to study at universities and institutions where English is the medium of instruction. It is widely accepted by over 11,000 institutions worldwide, especially in the United States and Canada. TOEFL evaluates four language skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing, and provides a comprehensive assessment of how well test-takers can perform academic tasks in English.
The TOEFL iBT test includes questions on reading passages, listening to academic lectures, speaking responses to prompts, and writing essays. The Speaking section allows test-takers to record their responses on a computer, which is then evaluated by a group of independent graders. The TOEFL scoring system is based on a range of 0 to 120, with each section scored on a scale of 0 to 30. The test lasts around 3 to 4 hours, and results are available within 10 to 15 days. The TOEFL test is highly valued by institutions because it tests integrated academic skills, providing a realistic assessment of a student’s ability to succeed in an English-speaking academic environment.
